About The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust

The Pittsburgh Cultural Trust is a nonprofit organization created to stimulate the economic and cultural development of Pittsburgh through the development and promotion of a downtown arts and entertainment district. The Trust encourages and presents diverse performing and visual arts programs in the Cultural District.

Internships are available in the following departments:

DEVELOPMENT

The Institutional Development department raises additional operating funds to support and enhance the Cultural District, its growth, and its development.  The department does this in a number of ways - direct mail solicitations, staff campaigns, grants, cultivations and special events.

EDUCATION AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT

As the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's Department of Education and Community Engagement, we are committed to providing educational experiences to a multicultural audience of all ages. Our mission is part of the Trust's goal of creating cultural vitality in Pittsburgh.  We work with arts organizations, universities, corporations, and educators to develop educational and entertaining programs that nurture an appreciation for the arts. Our ArtSTART programs focus on bringing the arts to students. ArtsREACH programs focus on meeting the needs of under-served populations. ArtSMART programs focus on providing opportunities for educators to share and enjoy the arts.

INFORMATION SYSTEMS

IS, the Trust's computer, network and technology department, is organized in two groups, IT and Web.  The IT group is responsible for our information technology needs (PCs, software, network, etc.).  The Web group oversees the Trust's on-line activities (Web site, intranet, etc.).  While we're organizationally two groups, we function as one department.  IS staff members from both groups work closely together to fulfill your requirements and meet the Trust's technology needs.  Often crossing organizational lines, the IS team is committed to providing the best support, service and technology leadership in the industry.

ACCOUNTING

The Finance department supports the entire organization by providing accounting services including cash receipts and disbursements, payroll processing, budgeting and financial reporting. Finance also includes office management and reception.

MARKETING

The Marketing/Communications department oversees the branding and image management of the organization. We publicize and market Trust events, Wood Street Galleries shows, Trust sponsored performances in the Benedum, Byham and Harris Theaters, and performers and touring companies that rent Trust facilities (known as third-party rentals, which are not presented by the Trust). We work closely with the Trust’s Programming department on Trust presentations and provide advertising, promotional and public relations plans for each performance, as well as submitting a settlement for each show at the end of its run.

REAL ESTATE

-Protect the initial vision of the Trust and its subsequent investments through on-going review and maintenance of building exteriors and streetscaping projects.

-Increase planned amenities to enhance and expand the potential of the Cultural District and real estate within the District through projects such as the Service Center and implementation of the Eighth Street Project.

-Increase the number and diversity of people visiting the Cultural District through continuing development and improvement of its amenities: theaters; restaurants’ shops and art galleries; residential opportunities; a strong brand; way finding and information systems.

-Maximize financial resources for the Trust to support its mission.

SHARED SERVICES

The mission of Shared Services is to improve the financial condition of its member organizations through collaborative sourcing of commodities and services and joint marketing efforts that lead to increased ticket sales.  The department covers three distinct areas of operation: Sourcing, Marketing Research, Ticketing and Information Technology.
